Cobalt and Navy Chic: Living Room Mood Board

Recently, I embarked your help on my quest for the perfect paint color to make over this dining table. I’m happy to say it didn’t take too long to decide, which is a rarity for a Libra! I weighed colors that would’ve been more practical, but decided to be a little more daring. I love my decor to be one-of-a-kind.

Thus, I chose: Neptune Blue.

Neptune Blue

It’s similar to a royal or cobalt blue, but a bit less bold. It’s actually a specially-blended color the folks at Lowe’s made for me. I have a bunch of paint cards I reference when creating color schemes, so I brought one in with this color and bought a sample pot of it.

To add a sense of harmony in my home, I’ll coordinate the table with the neighboring spaces, the kitchen and living room.

Make Over Your Decor With This Cheap Mosaic Method

Love the mosaic look but hate to spend the money for glass tiles and grout? Check out a cheaper and simpler alternative I created with scrapbook paper and Mod Podge. Adding a mosaic is a clever way to customize an existing piece of furniture or accessory.

Using this mosaic method, I gave my plain, Parsons coffee table an update along with some Rub n Buff to add a metallic vibe. Sure, buying a new coffee table would’ve been easier, but it would’ve been boring. Learn how to do it after the jump. Continue reading

New Watercolor: “Sign for the Times”

Sign for the Times original watercolor painting by Angela Conley mosaic peace sign diversity races

“Sign for the Times”

This painting was inspired by a previous piece, “The Only Way.” In both paintings, the mosaic style symbolizes many peoples joining together. I strongly believe that for peace to exist, we all must unite. Whether that peace is needed in a particular nation or not, we as humans must all band together for the same goal. Each of the mosaic tiles in the hand/arm of “The Only Way” and in the background of “Sign for the Times” were painted in various tones of complexion.

DIY: Mosaic Wall Decor

It’s a simple, straightforward project: cut paper squares, arrange, glue, and seal. I however, found a way to make it more complicated. :) Note: while this is an easy project, it is a bit time-consuming so you better have a fresh jar of patience. I came across this mosaic project over at Remodelaholic and felt like it was fated to coordinate with my retro kitchen countertops: seafoam, gray and green retro square patterned Formica kitchen counter Continue reading
