Paint It Black: Furniture Repainting, Stage 2
Read more after the jump.
So far, I’m very impressed with the air of sophistication the dresser adds. I was concerned black may be too basic and safe, but with the semi-gloss finish and nickle drawer pulls, I think it glams up the room.
I will post more later once I have truly finished redecorating my bedroom. I have a few minor details to take care of, before I post pics of the entire room. I thought this was to be the final stage of my furniture painting (or at least for now), but I am in the process of refinishing a small wooden plant stand. Small fish, though.
WOW!! It turned it from traditional to modern! You really hit it on the head! WOW!!!!!
Thanks, Heidi! I’m looking forward to doing more!
You’re right, it really did turn out well! Very sleek and sophisticated. A huge improvement on the ‘before’!!
Thank you!
I love the modern look of it! EXCELLENT paint job!
I painted a free dresser I found on Craigslist, but distressed it a bit….so my paint job did not have to be as perfect as yours (thank goodness).

Thanks! It’s not the greatest paint job, especially it being one of my first painting projects. I appreciate your comment & stopping through!
What kind of black semi gloss did you use ? It looks beautiful.
I believe the paint was flat (Onyx by Glidden) and the seal was semi-gloss (Minwax Polycrylic).
Just curious, I have this dresser and I am inspired to paint it. I can’t seem to figure out how to get the drawers out, is there a trick to this…I think I must be crazy, but can’t seem to achieve my drawer removal. Thanks, I’m so excited to get started
Hmmm, mine just slide right out. But there may have been a stopper of some sort that I disabled back when I painted it.
