A New Creative Venture: Paintable Wallpaper
The paintable wallpaper comes in various textures and was $12 for a 20.5″ x 11 yard roll. It states it’s self-pasting, but I plan on just gluing the back of it with Mod Podge to my surface. The pattern I chose is quite simple, with a texture somewhat similar to grasscloth.
I used it for my first project on the floating headboard I’m working on. I’m using a wood panel as the base and had painted this black, but once I had it on the wall, it just didn’t fit well. So I cut strips of the paintable wallpaper and glued them to the panel.
Here’s a teaser of how I used it on the headboard:
Some ideas I have for it so far:
-Cover my doors and paint them a color
-Cover floating shelves
-Add to the walls in squares but leave white
-Use on other decor accessories, such as trays, frames, mattes, tables, etc.
It’s so exciting to find something new and cheap. If you’ve used paintable wallpaper, please feel free to share your project in the comments!
What a great idea!
Hi Angela! I found your blog as it was featured over at Carolyn’s “Homework”. Thanks for telling us about this great product. I don’t have space for any kind of workshop, etc. so I’m not into cutting boards for projects. With this product, however, I could cover other types of products (that I can cut easily like foam) and cover them with paintable wallpaper to make them LOOK like wood. I really like how your shelves turned out.
Thank you! This stuff is super cheap too when you consider how much you get for the roll. Great idea too on using this on foam! You could create faux wood panels with it. Thanks for stopping through!
I just ordered Martha Stewarts bead board pain table wallpaper for my kitchen!!! I can’t wait to see how it will look. Think of all the projects I can do with the left covers 🙂

Exciting, isn’t it! Good luck with your project! Thanks for stopping through.
You’re so interesting! I don’t suppose I’ve truly read anything like that before. So great to find somebody with genuine thoughts on this topic. Really.. thanks for starting this up. This website is something that is required on the internet, someone with some originality!
