Cobalt and Navy Chic: Living Room Mood Board
All of these rooms have been a slow work in progress without a defined palette. I started decorating these spaces with an earthy, neutral palette, except for the splashes of green from plants and the distressed poster art I recently created.
Since the kitchen is small and I’m limited on how I can utilize color in here as a renter, I’ll only use pops of blue in here. But the living room is another story, and one I’m very excited for. Here is my color scheme:
In the living room, I’ll use a combination of cobalt, navy, and shades of aqua. These colors will be combined with the neutrals already used: white, light gray, oatmeal, and bits of black.
I’m still going with the Moroccan/Indian decor style, because I love it so much. I’m just not ready to turn it in yet. This is the mood board I created to help reign in my decor ideas:

You may recall I previously made over my living room with a mixture of Moroccan and MCM pieces. The color scheme was quite minimal and I started to crave more color. I’ll continue to use a neutral palette but with blasts of blue—they will much more than pops of color.
These are some rooms I found that also serve as inspiration. The Moroccan influence in this dining room is quite heavy, but it’s still an inspiring piece. I love all the arabesque patterns.
Since I live in an apartment, painting the walls blue is out of the question. I really dig how this bedroom has incorporated lots of blue with white walls. The room’s global decor is also perfect.
Even though I can’t paint the walls, this room is still a great example of how so much blue can be layered. I also dig how the space isn’t entirely monochromatic: the touches of cream, brown, and white help balance all the color.
Staying true to my thrifty nature, I’ll make over decor I already own, repurpose some items, and buy just a few new pieces for the living room. I’ve already launched off the blue infusion with my DIY Rorschach (inkblot) wall art in my preferred blues. I’m really excited and look forward to sharing it all with you eventually!

I have to love your choice of Neptune Blue. My son chose the very same color for his bedroom. You put an elegant room together. We on the other hand matched the color with a Restoration Parts Poster that featured several Ford trucks. Have a Super Saturday.
Thanks! I’m really digging it so far. I bet it was a great color for your son’s room. Perfect for a boy and to match the Ford logo also! Hope your weekend is great as well!
Love the board, gorgeous. Thanks tons for linking to Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty
Thanks for this post. I love the idea of mood boards but I’ve never actually made one. Thanks for sharing your post at our Making Monday link party. We appreciate you.

Until recently, I never did mood boards. I highly recommend it if you’re as visually-oriented as I am! Thank you for your lovely comment!
Hi! Thanks for linking up – I love your color picks!! 🙂
Can you be more specific about the oatmeal color you used?
Sorry, I don’t have a name of that color. This was from an apartment, so I don’t know what color wall paint the owner used.
