Get Your Color On! Orange
Orange is one of those colors people tend to either love or hate. It's a powerful color that evokes emotion, so it should be used wisely in a home.
When used in bright, saturated shades, orange brings a lively energy to a room. This makes it a great choice for offices, creative spaces, and kitchens. Orange can also create a feeling of warmth and optimism in a room, which makes it a perfect choice for a living room or other similar living space.
Modern spaces tend to use orange in shades like tangerine or brighter like neon orange. Conversely, muted tones like burnt orange or pumpkin are well-suited for more traditional decor.
If you like the pizzazz orange has to offer but feel hesitant in using it, decorate your space with orange accessories like pillows, lighting, dinnerware, and artwork.

For the color-shy, you can use strips of orange in a room by painting the inside of an arch…
… or using it as trim on pillows and bedding. This is a wonderful way to add energy to a bedroom without overdoing it.
Going further, you can use orange in a slightly larger way by covering the back of a bookcase. This is sure to spice up the room while limiting the use of this powerful color.
If you’re a big fan of orange and all the energy it has to offer, use it on a larger scale with items like rugs, curtains, bedding, and furniture.

Orange is a great color choice to frame a focal point in a space. I love how Ginger from Bliss-ologie took a chance with bleaching her curtains to create this bold orange hue. They’re so unique and creative!
If orange is your destiny, go big with it. Kitchens are naturally a great choice for colors you commonly find in food, so orange is perfect for this part of your home.
Dining rooms are also a great choice for this color. This room is enveloped in orange, but it’s not a shade that’s too stimulating. This would also be a great hue for a living room.
Orange also plays well with other colors. Pairing it with aqua or turquoise creates a lovely fire and ice palette for a space, such as this bedroom.
When unsure of what colors to use with orange, look to nature. Colors that occur together naturally are harmonious and are proven winners. Check out this child’s bedroom decorated in cheerful citrus colors.
Using neutrals with orange helps tone down the brightness and offers a unique contrast of color.
