Create a Unique Jewelry Organizer by Repurposing a Basket
Creating this jewelry holder was very easy. After cleaning the basket with soap and water, I gave it a few coats of spraypaint (Rustoleum Heritage White) and then sprayed a few coats of sealer (Rustoleum Clear). Here is a “before” shot of the basket:
To hang the basket on the wall, I tied a piece of hemp rope near the top. If rope doesn’t quite fit into your decor, you could use ribbon, a metal chain, yarn, lace, etc. I then hung my earrings in an aesthetically pleasing way.
I also included a few other items to organize my jewelry collection. These metal hooks received a spraypaint makeover and were affixed to the wall with screws and wall anchors.
This wood mannequin was from my days as a freelance artist and provided a quirky resting place for a few bracelets and rings (another “random” idea too!). A glass dish was used for the earrings I couldn’t hang, like hoops and studs.
Normally, I like to stow away the items I don’t use everyday to keep a clutter-free room. But because I’m decorating my bedroom with a bohemian, beachy vibe, I chose to display my jewelry. Most of my jewelry is non-traditional and made from wood, aged silver, rocks, etc., so my collection works beautifully with my new decor.
One of the things I love about thrift store shopping is that you never know what you may find. If you’re interested in creating a jewelry holder from a basket, my advice is to use wicker baskets and not those that are woven. Caning inside a basket, like the bottom of mine, is a perfect surface for hanging earrings or other jewelry with S-hooks.
I’m still working on my bedroom makeover, so keep your eyes open for more details in the weeks to come!

Clever and creative! The hooks add to the look. It’s a real treat when random ideas turn out to be so perfect.

This is so cute! I’ve never seen anyone use a basket before. I’d have to have a lot of baskets for my earring collection. I would love it if you linked up at my Motivate Me Monday linky party
