What’s Old is New Again: Avocado Kitchens
I once rented an apartment that had an avocado oven and fridge. Unfortunately, I wasn’t as concerned with decor at the time (during my starving artist days) so I did nothing to highlight the color. But if I had the chance today, I’d make the most of it.
My version would be my usual MO, a juxtaposition of styles. I’d combine modern (think: Scandinavian) with the vintage to create a look similar to this kitchen:
You could go full out vintage like this LA home. The MCM appeal shines brighter by pairing orange and gold kitchen items with the green cabinetry.
If you’re not too keen on avocado being the star, adding a gray-blue helps to temper the color. The combination of this palette with the wood evokes a calm, natural vibe.
This kitchen also doesn’t have avocado appliances, but it’s beautifully employed the use of the color as an accent wall.
If you’re not feeling the color as much but dig it in small doses, opt for accessories or furniture.
What do you think of the avocado look in kitchens? Do you think it can become a trend again? If you’ve had this color in your home, did you change it or embrace it?
