Not Your Granny’s Florals: Tips for Decorating with Floral Patterns
Do you love flowers but the thought of decorating with them conjures memories of your grandmother’s plastic covered, floral-printed sofa?
Do you want to add some floral energy to your home but can’t stop thinking of the floral-inspired decor made popular by Home Interior parties from the 80s-90s?
The country-inspired, Victorian florals of the past are no longer (unless you wanna rock them–not that there’s anything wrong with that). Florals are back with a modern spin. From big to small, neutral to bright, and bold to subtle, there’s sure to be floral decor that will please you. Here are my tips and picks for using these nature-inspired prints in your home. Start small with accessories. Small floral items are best if you’re gun-shy about decorating with flowers or don’t want the space to feel overwhelmingly feminine. These accessories combine function with just a touch of flower power.
Add florals in unexpected places. Bedrooms and bathrooms are usually the go-to rooms for florals, so get creative and add them to other spaces.
Decorate with black and white florals. Black and white instantly adds modern style to anything.
Decorate with soft, abstract florals. If you prefer mellow yet modern, choose watercolor versions like these.
Use bold, graphic florals to add drama to your room. If your room is lacking some ooph, decorating with stylized floral patterns will breathe life back into it.
